General
The adult beetle is 3-4mm long. The beetle attacks leguminous
plants.
Reproduction
Eggs are deposited loosely within the pods of leguminous
plants, or among their stored seeds. The newly hatched larvae immediately
enter the seed and development to the adult stage occurs entirely
within the seed.
Development times are influenced by temperature, relative humidity,
moisture content, quality and content of food. The following figures
are therefore only a guide.
