Small-Eyed Flour Beetle – Palorus ratzeburgi

General
The smallest of the flour beetles, approximately 2.5mm long and reddish brown in colour.

Significance
It is mainly a pest of ground cereals, typically found in flour mills.

Control
Infested commodities should be isolated and destroyed, or failing this fumigated. The structure and fittings of the infested area should be treated with a residual insecticide. This treatment may be supplemented with the use of an ultra-low volume insecticide application.
