Wasps on the rise …

The current heatwave is providing ideal conditions for Wasps to thrive, giving them increased opportunities to feed.

After a surge of Wasps last year, figures suggest that this year that there should be a lull in numbers. However, we are already experiencing increased activity due to the warm spell and numbers are exceeding initial expectations as Wasp call outs have risen significantly.

The varied weather of plenty of rain followed by soaring heat has led to fruit fields & gardens to thrive, giving great feeding conditions for Wasps. Fruit makes Wasps slightly inebriated; this is when they are most likely to sting so, please beware!

Be careful when children are enjoying ice creams, lollies & soft drinks – anything containing high amounts of sugar, as these will attract Wasps. Naturally children waft them away, try to keep the child calm as to not anger the Wasp further.

It is advisable to keep a sting remedy to hand (available in all Pharmacies). If you find yourself in a situation without treatment, then we suggest using half a chopped onion to ease the sting.

Please do not try to tackle a Wasp Nest yourself, stings can be extremely dangerous, some people even have an acute reaction leading to anaphylaxis. Our trained technicians have the knowledge and professional treatment options to handle Wasps safely & effectively, please call our team to irradiate the pest today.
